The 2019 Meeting Calendar will be determined at this meeting as well as other Land Bank business. VACANCY NOTICE – January 1, 2019

The Sullivan County Land Bank Corporation (SCLBC) was created in 2017 by the County of Sullivan and approved by New York State. The Sullivan County Land Bank’s mission is to strengthen neighborhoods by mitigating blight through strategic property acquisition that will create vibrant neighborhoods, increase homeownership, stimulate economic growth and support community development by returning properties to productive use and improve quality of life.

The Sullivan County Land Bank is a county-wide initiative, but has a particular focus on the Village of Monticello and the Village of Liberty, where the need is greatest. The SCLBC strives to cluster its projects in target neighborhoods in order to achieve a greater impact than it would by dispersing them throughout the County. SCBLBC’s principle activities are the acquisition of distressed properties, their rehabilitation or demolition, and their return to productive use (i.e. disposition). Related to these core activities are property maintenance while they are in SCLBC ownership, and property marketing and sales.

The SCLBC meets monthly, generally on the third Thursday of the month at 8:30AM, however special meetings and advisory group meetings are also held, on an as needed basis. Board meetings are publicly noticed and listed on the SCLBC’s website: www.sullivancountylandbank.org

At this time there is one open position on the Sullivan County Land Bank Corporation Board. However the Board may expand the number of seats and welcomes assistance from interested volunteers who would like to serve either on the Board or on informal advisory groups reviewing acquisition and disposition projects. Potential board members and volunteers should have familiarity with community based initiatives with a focus on improving community appearance, real estate activities, and/or construction rehab.

JOB POSTING – June 1, 2017

The SCLBC is currently seeking an Executive Director to manage and guide the organization during this critical start-up period. The position is expected to require a full-time commitment, and a qualified candidate should have a bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of experience in general real estate, redevelopment and or land use, contracting/construction, project management or real estate law.

SCLBC is also looking for members of the community willing to help, specifically individuals with experience in real estate law, construction, finance, or community development projects who are willing to serve on the board or in an advisory capacity.
